Organizing your library

Why it is Important

When adding a new project, Symbonic makes you select your type of library template, depending on what type of project it is.  Choosing this library template will give you a head start on organizing the way you add and store items in your materials library.

Each library has customizable directories and folders that can change location, name, and security levels:

  1. Directories - Directories contain as many folders as needed.  You can always edit the name and location order of each directory.  You can also make each directory Secure, meaning that only administrators have access. (i.e. Creative, Business Dev, etc.)
  2. Folders -  Folders contain links, files, & content cards.  You can always edit the name, order, and directory location of every folder.  You can also make each folder Secure, just like the directories, making them only accessible to administrators. 
  3. Sub Folders - Sub Folders contain links, files, & content cards

Organizing your Library

After adding your project and using the materials library for the first time you will see the list of directories and folders in the column on the left-hand side. 

NOTE: Only Administrators of the project will have the ability to add, delete, edit, rearrange directories, folders, and sub folders. 

  • Add a Directory - Click the +Add Directory feature, located above the first directory listed, add the Name of your directory and chose if you want to be Secure or not, and then click Save.
  • Add a Folder - Click the +Add Folder feature, located below the last folder of the one directory that is open, add the Name of your directory and chose if you want to be Secure or not, and then click Save.
  • Add a Sub Folder - Click the +Add Sub folder feature, located below the folder you are currently in, add the Name of your Sub Folder and click Save.
  • Edit a Directory - Select the directory you would like to edit and click the Gear Icon located on the right of the name, make the appropriate edits and click Save when done.
  • Edit a Folder - Select the folder you would like to edit and click the Gear Icon located on the right of the name, make the appropriate edits and click Save when done.
  • Edit a Sub Folder - Select the sub folder you would like to edit and click the Gear Icon located on the right of the name, make the appropriate edits and click Save when done.
  • Arranging a Directory & Folder - To change the order of the directories or folders, just put your cursor over the directory or folder, Click, Hold, and Move.
  • Secure a Directory - Select the directory you would like to secure and click the Gear Icon, check the Secure Box, and click Save when done.
  • Secure a Folder - Select the folder you would like to secure and click the Gear Icon, check the Secure Box, and click Save when done.
  • Secure a Sub Folder - Select the sub folder you would like to secure and click the Gear Icon, check the Secure Box, and click Save when done.
